As part of building a sustainable campus, Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian is doing its bit by installing major renewable energy projects and environmental friendly sources on campus. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma said solar power generation is a measure of sustainability and our college is harnessing the sun to generate 30 kWh of electricity annually. Along with solar, we are also paying attention towards water conservation and rainwater harvesting to make the campus self-reliant for its water needs. The college is also working on fire-safety measures such as installing extinguishers, smoke alarms and sprinklers. “SPN is one of the first in the region to install different renewable energy projects. We are setting up an example for others to be able to emulate our efforts”, he added. He proposed heartfelt gratitude to the college president Sh. Rajan Makkar ji and the entire college managing committee.
