Havan Ceremony Marks the Commencement of Academic Session 2026–2027 at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian

A sacred Havan Ceremony was organised at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, on the auspicious occasion of the commencement of Sawan Maas, marking the beginning of the new academic session 2026–2027. The ceremony was performed with devotion and reverence to seek the blessings of the Almighty for the well-being, peace, prosperity and success of all members of the college community.

The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of the dignitaries of the SPN College Management Committee. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma, warmly welcomed Sh. Rajan Makkar Ji, President, SPN College Management Committee; Sh. Sanjeev Anand Ji, Secretary, SPN College Management Committee; and Dr. Rajesh Lakhanpal, Auditor, SPN College Management Committee. The ceremony was also blessed by the revered presence of Mahant Ramesh Dass Ji Shastri, whose spiritual presence added sanctity and significance to the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sameer Sharma, Principal, reflected upon the remarkable achievements and progress of the college during the previous academic years. He expressed his commitment to further strengthening the academic environment and providing the best possible educational facilities and opportunities to the students. He emphasised that the college would continue to strive for excellence and work towards the holistic development of its students.

The Principal proudly announced the commencement of two new, career-oriented undergraduate programmes affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh—B.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and B.Sc. in Data Science. He highlighted that these programmes have been introduced keeping in view the rapidly changing demands of the job market and the growing importance of emerging technologies in the modern world.

Dr. Sharma further apprised the gathering about the collaboration between Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, and Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala. Under this collaboration, the college, as a Learner Support Centre, is offering five skill-oriented diploma and certificate courses aimed at enhancing employability and promoting practical education. These include:

Diploma in Organic Farming
Diploma in Fashion Designing
Diploma in Computer Applications
Diploma in Office Automation and E-Governance
Certificate Course in Computer-Aided Accounting

He stated that these programmes are designed to equip learners with industry-relevant skills and provide them with greater opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Dr. Rajesh Lakhanpal, Auditor, SPN College Management Committee, highlighted the pivotal role of education in shaping individuals and society. He emphasised the importance of teachers in guiding students, nurturing their talents and values, and preparing them to become responsible and capable citizens.

Sh. Sanjeev Anand Ji, Secretary, SPN College Management Committee, spoke about the significant contribution of the college towards the welfare and service of society. Through an inspiring mantra, he highlighted the importance of serving humanity and contributing positively to the community. He encouraged everyone to uphold the spirit of service and social responsibility.

Sh. Rajan Makkar Ji, President, SPN College Management Committee, blessed the gathering and extended his best wishes to the students, faculty and staff members for a successful, productive and prosperous academic session. He expressed hope that the new session would bring continued growth, achievements and new milestones for the institution.

The event was moderated by Dr. Gopi Sharma, Joint Staff Secretary. The faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of the college participated in the ceremony with devotion and enthusiasm.

The programme concluded with prayers for the well-being of all and a collective resolve to make the academic session 2026–2027 a year of excellence, innovation, growth and success.
