About NSS
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. NSS provides opportunities to students to participate in community service, social welfare activities, and nation-building programmes. The main objective of NSS is personality development through voluntary community service.
NSS was launched in 1969 and has become one of the largest youth movements in India. The scheme promotes the spirit of social responsibility, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and national integration among students.
NSS Badge and Symbol
The NSS badge is inspired by the Konark Wheel of the Sun Temple, Odisha. The wheel signifies the cycle of creation, preservation, and release. The red colour represents the energy and spirit of youth, while the blue colour represents the universe and humanity.

NSS Units at SPN College
Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian proudly runs 3 Government Funded NSS Units. The NSS Wing of the college actively organizes cleanliness drives, tree plantation programmes, health awareness camps, blood donation camps, voter awareness campaigns, road safety programmes, and environmental awareness activities.
