Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya (SPN College), Mukerian, organised a speech competition on the theme “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” on the occasion of International Youth Day. The event was jointly organised by the Red Ribbon Club, Youth Club and NCC Unit of the college. The initiative aimed to sensitise young people to the harmful effects of drug abuse and inspire them to lead healthy, responsible and drug-free lives.

Students participated enthusiastically in the competition and presented their views effectively on the physical, psychological and social consequences of drug abuse. They highlighted the urgent need to spread awareness against substance abuse and protect the younger generation from this serious social menace.

In the competition, Sanampreet Kaur and Jashanpreet Kaur jointly secured the first position, while Maskina bagged the second position and Inder Kumar Jasswal secured the third position. The winners delivered impactful speeches highlighting the devastating consequences of drug abuse and conveyed a strong message urging young people to stay away from drugs and embrace a healthy lifestyle.

On the occasion, Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma motivated the students to remain away from drugs and become ambassadors of anti-drug awareness in society. He emphasised that young people are the future of the nation and that their energy and potential must be channelled in the right direction to build a healthy and drug-free society.

Prof. Anuradha, In-charge of the Red Ribbon Club and Youth Club, along with Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Member, and Dr. Gopi Sharma, NCC In-charge, played an instrumental role in the successful organisation of the competition. They expressed their gratitude to the College Management Committee and Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma for their continued support and encouragement.

At the conclusion of the event, the winners were congratulated for their commendable performances. All students were also administered an oath to embrace the message “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” in their daily lives. They were encouraged not only to stay away from drugs themselves but also to spread awareness among their families, friends and the wider community, thereby contributing to the creation of a healthier and drug-free society.
