Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, organised a Blood Donation Camp and Dietary Awareness Programme under the joint aegis of the Women Wings Club, Mukerian, National Service Scheme (NSS), NCC Unit, Red Ribbon & Youth Club, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, and the Department of Physical Education. The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students and members of the community about the significance of blood donation, healthy nutrition, balanced dietary practices, and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.
The programme was organised under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma. Students, faculty members and other participants took enthusiastic part in the activities. The blood donation camp provided an opportunity for participants to make a meaningful contribution towards saving lives and supporting patients in need of blood. The initiative highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation as a noble act of humanitarian service and encouraged young people to contribute to society through such socially responsible initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma, emphasised that blood donation is one of the most valuable forms of service to humanity. He appreciated the enthusiasm and sense of social responsibility demonstrated by the participants and encouraged students to actively participate in community-oriented programmes related to health, social welfare and public awareness. He also stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and making a balanced and nutritious diet an integral part of everyday life.
As part of the programme, Clinical Dietician Kanwaldeep Singh Aujla, the resource person, delivered an informative lecture on “Healthy Nutrition Practices in Indian Families.” He provided valuable insights into the importance of balanced nutrition, wholesome food choices, healthy eating habits and lifestyle practices. He explained how appropriate dietary choices can contribute to physical well-being, disease prevention and overall quality of life. The interactive and informative session helped students and participants understand the importance of making conscious and scientifically informed food choices in their daily lives.
The Women Wings Club, Mukerian, under the dynamic leadership of its President Madam Chanchal Narang Ji, played an important role in the successful organisation of the blood donation camp and the health and nutrition awareness programme. The dedicated members of the NGO actively participated in the arrangements and extended their valuable cooperation throughout the event. Their enthusiastic involvement and commitment to community welfare added significant value to the programme and strengthened its message of compassion, service and healthy living. Madam Meenakshi Anand Ji also graced the occasion with her esteemed presence and encouraged the participants through her inspiring presence and support.
The blood donation camp received an encouraging response, with 65 participants donating blood and making a valuable contribution towards meeting the needs of patients requiring blood transfusions. Their participation reflected a commendable spirit of volunteerism, social responsibility and concern for the well-being of others.
The successful conduct of the programme was made possible through the dedicated efforts of NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Sonia Sharma and Dr. Ashok Chaudhary, and Prof. Bikramjit Singh; Dr. Gopi Sharma, NCC In-charge; Smt. Anuradha, In-charge, Youth Club and Red Ribbon Club; and Dr. Chandrashekhar, Head, Department of Physical Education, along with other faculty members and supporting staff.The programme was also attended by Dr. Jasminder Singh, Prof. Seema, Prof. Narinder, Prof. Ritu and Prof. Shivam, whose presence and encouragement added to the spirit of the event.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Sonia Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the SPN College Management Committee, Madam Chanchal Narang Ji, President, Women Wings Club (NGO), and all its dedicated members, Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma, Clinical Dietician Kanwaldeep Singh Aujla, the Resource Person, as well as all the donors, participants, faculty members and volunteers for their valuable support and cooperation.
The programme successfully conveyed the dual message of “Donate Blood, Save Lives” and “Eat Healthy, Live Healthy,” inspiring students and the wider community to embrace the values of compassion, social responsibility and healthy living.
