Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya Mukerian Pays Homage to the Martyrs

The Departments of History and Sanskrit in collaboration with NCC, NSS, Red Ribbon Club and Youth Club of Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian organised a webinar to observe Martyrs’ Day. The webinar on the topic “Life and Ideology of S. Bhagat Singh” was conducted to pay homage to the charismatic revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev who made supreme sacrifices for the motherland.

At the outset of the session, Dr. Gopi Sharma welcomed the keynote speakers Dr. Suksham Ahluwalia (Officiating Principal, Arya College, Ludhiana) and Dr. Ashish Kumar (Director, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Study Center, Arya College Ludhiana).
Addressing the students, Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh will always be remembered for his gusto and courage to stand up against British rule. He added that the lives of the revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru are exemplary and instill selflessness and dedication towards the nation among the future generations through their sacrifice to protect the motherland and the nation.

Dr. Suksham apprised the students about the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his contribution in India’s struggle for freedom. Dr. Ashish highlighted the
martyr’s relevance in contemporary India. He further said that the life of Bhagat Singh should be a source of inspiration for the youth to rationally protect their freedom and fundamental rights.

The webinar ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Pushpinder Kumari Head, Department of History. Dr. Sameer Mahajan, NSS coordinator, Ms. Anuradha (Incharge Red Ribbon Club and Youth Club) were also present.
