SPN College Mukerian Organises Neighbourhood Youth Parliament

The departments of Hindi, Physical Education and NSS Unit in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Hoshiarpur organised a ‘Neighbourhood Youth Parliament’ at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian. Mr. Sanjeev Anand, secretary, the college managing committee graced the event as chief guests. At the outset of the event, principal Dr. Sameer Sharma said that the objective of the event was to develop leadership qualities among youth to enable them to realize their full potential and to contribute to the nation building process besides sensitizing the students about the various welfare schemes promoted by the government. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjeev Anand said that the youth should be abreast of various socio-economic issues of the society and they should proactively work on such issues for the larger interest of the society. He further spoke on various aspects like healthcare, skill development, personality development, self reliance, and building self confidence. Dr. Banka Bahadur and Sh Atminder Singh, the keynote speakers laid special focus on various schemes launched by the Indian government.

On this occasion, a poetry recitation competition was also organised, where the top three positions were bagged by Ravit, Shantnu, Dalwinder, Sharuti and Amanpreet. Skill India, Digital India, Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao, Ayushman Bharat, and Clean India: Healthy India were some of the topics covered by the participants during the session. The event was effectively moderated by Dr. Sonia Sharma. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sameer Mahajan.
