The Department of Home Science, Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian in its endeavour to generate awareness on topics like malnutrition, prevalence and its consequences, in order to improve nutritional index of women and children across the country, celebrated Poshan Pakhwada, under the aegis of Ministry of Women and Child Development Govt. of India.
To mark the celebration of Poshan Pakhwada 2021 from March 16 to March 31, 2021, an online competition was held under the theme of “Healthy Colourful Recipe”. The competition was coordinated by Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Head, Department of Home Science. Sharing her views, she said the competition aimed to focus on addressing the nutritional challenges through Food Forestry and organizing Poshan Panchayats. This ‘Poshan Abhiyan’ attempts to improve nutritional outcomes in a holistic manner in connection with other Ministries.
Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma extolled the efforts of the department for organising such an informative and vital competition. He lauded the endeavours of students from different schools and colleges, who participated in this competition. Kumari Sukriti bagged first prize, Priya Gautam won second, and Jyoti Mehra secured third prize, respectively. The competition was effectively and efficiently moderated by Ms. Shivani.
