#International Women’s Day Celebration#
To honour womanhood, Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya celebrated International Women’s day with a spirit of joy and ecstasy. The initiative was taken by the members of Women Development Cell of the college. Smt.Chanchal Narang was invited to grace the occasion as the chief guest. Dr. Raj Seth(Head, Department of Physics, DAV University, Jalandhar) was the guest of honour and Smt Minakshi Anand and Smt Varsha Swaraj were the special guests of the day. The resource person was Dr. Jasvir Rishi, (former Head, Department of Psychology, H.M.V College, Jalandhar) .
Dr Sonia Sharma, convener of the Women Development Cell, welcomed the guests. The event commenced with the invocation of Goddess Saraswati, the epitome of knowledge and strength . The guests were offered a floral welcome. The inaugural note was delivered by Principal Dr Sameer Sharma. He accented the importance of this day by glorifying the achievements of women in myriad arenas. The resource person, Dr. Jasvir Rishi opined that women are stronger than men and they are proving their mettle in every field today. The event was carried forward by a theme based fashion show “Pehrawa: Ek Chotta sa Prayaas” organized by Prof. Harpreet kaur and Ms Shivani, Deptt, of Home Science. The exquisite dresses made by the newspaper,which the students flaunted on the ramp, were the show-stopper. Prof.Gurpreet Kaur also extended her valuable contribution in organizing the event.
The program concluded by proposing the vote of thanks and honoring the worthy guests of the day by presenting momentos. The female faculty of the college marked its presence with exuberance and played a paramount role in making the event worth cherishing.
