On the occasion of World AIDS Day, Red Ribbon Club, Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian organised an event to raise awareness of AIDS on 01 December 2022. The theme for this year’s World AIDS Day was “EQUALIZE”.
Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma said the World AIDS Day is observed every year on 1 December to make people aware of HIV which still remains a major public health issue that affects millions of people worldwide. The aim of this day is to give people the opportunity to join the fight against HIV. He further applauded the endeavours of the Red Ribbon Club for organising such social awareness events.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur,Head, Department of Biology, said this day is a reminder for all that HIV still exists and we need to fight together to end this disease. It is an opportunity for every community to unite in the fight against HIV, and show support for people living with HIV.
Asst. Prof. Anuradha , Incharge Red Ribbon Club also shared her views on the dangers of HIV/AIDS and its negative impact on health. Asst. Prof. Tarandeep Kaur, Asst. Prof. Ajay (Punjabi Deptt.), Asst. Prof. Meenu, Asst. Prof. Ajay, Ms. Neha and other faculty members were also present.
