A seminar organised on “Marxian Approach to Literature ” at SPN College Mukerian.

Departments of Punjabi, English and History collaboratively organised a seminar on “Marxian Approach to Literature “.Dr Gulshan Kumar, former Head & Associate Professor, Department of English,S.P.N College Mukerian, was the keynote speaker of the event. Principal Dr.Sameer Sharma graced the occasion as the chief guest. At the outset of the event Dr.Kiranjit Kaur Head ,Deptt of Punjabi, welcomed the present dignitaries and introduced the topic to the audience.While appreciating the efforts of Punjabi, English and History Department, Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma appraised that Karl Marx is the founder of Marxism and his principles are still relevant to the contemporary world.While interacting with the students the keynote speaker Dr.Gulshan Kumar elucidated the background, history and advent of Marxism in the world. In his address, he unfurled the layers of Marxism one by one by explaining the essence of Marxism. He further stated that the main objective of the ideology is to uplift the condition of the labour class.While discussing about the relevance of Marxism to the contemporary society Dr.Gulshan annotated with facts that it’s the consequence of Marxism that today the working hours and pays are fixed and we have labour laws to secure the condition of labours throughout the world. He also threw light on its relevance with respect to literature. At the end Dr.Pushpinder Kumari Head , Deptt. of History cordially thanked College Managing Committee and Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma for their guidence and co-operation.On this occasion Prof.Nidhi Sood Head, Deptt. of English, Asst.Prof Tarandeep Kaur, Asst.Prof.Rupinder Jeet Kaur,Dr Amrinder Kaur, Asst. Prof.Anuradha, Mr. Ajay Sharma, Mr. Gurinder, Mr.Pardeep, Ms. Sunita,staff and students were also present.
