SPN College Mukerian Celebrates 400th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji

To commemorate the 400th Birth Anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur ji, the post graduate department of Punjabi, organised an event on April 23,2022. Dr.Kiranjit Kaur,Head, Department of Punjabi, in her prefatory address welcomed Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma and all the participants. She delineated that Guru Teg Bahadur ji fought against forced conversion and other religious impositions before he was beheaded on the orders of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Guru Teg Bahadur ji was a merciful saviour of the weak, and that is what he preached. He taught his disciples to protect the ones who need protection, even if it comes at the cost of one’s own life. He preached the humanitarianism we need today. Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma shared his views on the values that Sri Guru Teg Bahadur ji’s teachings have for Sikhism and Indian culture. He deemed Guru ji’s martyrdom as an inspiration to the people. He said the strong foundation of Sikh religion is attributed to the golden words and deeds of the gurus who sacrificed their lives to give a special identity to the community. Asst. Prof. Ajay Kumar shared his views on the writings of Guru Ji. Asst. Prof. Pardeep offered a vote of thanks to the college principal, the college managing committee and participants. Ms. Sunita Rani and Ms. Randeep were also present at the event.
