The Department of Home Science, Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian in its endeavour to generate awareness on topics like malnutrition, prevalence and its consequences, in order to improve nutritional index of women and children across the country, celebrated Poshan Pakhwada, under the aegis of Ministry of Women and Child Development Govt. of India.
To mark the celebration of Poshan Pakhwada, a chart exhibition regarding balanced diet and malnutrition was held at the premises of the college. The event was coordinated by Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Head, Department of Home Science. Sharing her views, she said the event aimed to focus on addressing the nutritional challenges through Food Forestry and organizing Poshan Panchayats. This ‘Poshan Abhiyan’ attempts to emphasize celebration of Healthy Child and activities concentrated on the integration of modern and traditional practices for healthy India. Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma extolled the efforts of the department for organising such an informative and vital event. He lauded the endeavours of participants and impressed upon them healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyle. The members of the departments of Home Science and Fashion Designing were also present at the event.
