Keeping in tune with its ethos of service, Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian has taken the initiative to adopt five villages under the scheme of ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’. The college has adopted Dharampur, Khicchian, Jalalpur and Hardo Neknama villages. The objective of this scheme is to enable higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth.
The college has organised a one day survey at Bhishanpur village of Mukerian on 4 March 2022. The team comprising the department of Political Science, NSS, NCC, Red Ribbon, Youth Club and students visited the village to understand the socio-economic profile and problems of the villagers. The survey emphasised the issues pertaining to sanitation, drinking water supply, energy, agriculture and allied activities, irrigation, education, health, etc. Moreover, it sensitised students towards the rural environment and requirements. The survey was conducted through wide consultation with Dr. Pushpinder Kumari and Dr Sameer Mahajan (Coordinators NSS), Lieutenant Dr. Gopi Sharma (Incharge NCC), and Asst. Prof. Anuradha (Incharge Red Ribbon and Youth Club).
