Library Lovers’ Day : The Department of Library and Youth club of Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya organized a book exhibition, poster making competition and inauguration of KOHA library software in lieu of Library Lovers’ Day. Sh. Ashok Kumar ji, SDM Mukerian was the chief guest on this occasion.Sh. Sanjeev Anand ji, Secretary , Management Committe, SPN College graced the event with his presence. The event started with welcome of the guests, faculty members and the students by Dr.Sonia Sharma, Convener of youth club. The event preceded with lightening of lamp by Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma ji and the esteemed guests. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma ji, greeted the guests and presented the highlights of the college library. He illuminated the students with significance of Library Lovers’ Day. Sh. Ashok Kumar ji, SDM Mukerian addressed the students and gave valuable suggestions to the students for leading a successful life and also stressed on maximum use of books for attaining better knowledge.Dr. P.K.Sengar, Head, Department of Library gave presentation on digitalisation of the college library. His presentation was an elaborative description about various digital automation systems available for general public, faculty and the students. INFLIBNET, PG- Pathshala, Shodganga were some of the systems explained by him by which an easy access to library books, journals, thesis etc. could be made by anyone using internet. Further Sh.Ashok Kumar ji inaugurated the KOHA Library Automated Software and there was demonstration of using this software. Loveleen Kaur, Neeraj and Pooja were the winners of the poster making competition. Prof. Savita Manhas was announced as the Best Library User among faculty and Ms. Gurvinder Kaur was announced the Best Library User among the students. This event concluded with the vote of thanks by Sh. Sanjeev Anand ji. He enlightened the importance of books among the students. He emphasised that to succeed one must have access to books. Citing examples from his life he shared his experiences of how important is to read books to attain knowledge.Such Illuminating talks by the guests on importance of use of library to enhance one’s lifestyle was of great value both for the students and the faculty members to maximize their visits and usage to various library systems.Dr.Sameer, Convener Library Committe, Prof.P.K.Singla, Dr.Arvind Chauhan, Dr.Deepika Sharma, Prof.Pankaj Sareen, Sh. Manjit Singh Kalsi, Dr.Gurpreet Kaur, Prof.Gulshan, Ms.Harpreet and Madam Premlata were all present at this event.
