SPN College Mukerian Observes World AIDS Day

On the occasion of World AIDS Day, the department of Biology and Red Ribbon Club, Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian organised an event to raise awareness about AIDS on 01 December 2021. The theme for this year’s World AIDS Day was “End Inequalities, End AIDS”. The event was inaugurated with a rally in which students tried to spread awareness by using slogans “Let’s Join Our Hands Together, Take a Pledge for an AIDS Free World”.

Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma while interacting with students said the World AIDS Day is observed every year on 1 December to make people aware of HIV which still remains a major public health issue that affects millions of people worldwide. The aim of this day is to give people the opportunity to join the fight against HIV. He further applauded the endeavours of students and faculty members for organising such social awareness events. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur,Head, Department of Biology, said this day is a reminder for all that HIV still exists and we need to fight together to end this disease. It is an opportunity for every community to unite in the fight against HIV, and show support for people living with HIV.
Prof. Anuradha , Incharge Red Ribbon Club also shared her views on the dangers of HIV/AIDS and its negative impact on health. The program concluded with a pledge to the AIDS free world taken by all the students. Dr. Amrinder Kaur, Prof. Tarandeep Kaur, Prof. Meenu, Prof. Ajay and Ms. Neha were also present.
