The Post Graduate Department of Commerce celebrates International Customs Day 2026

International Customs Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce, with the objective of creating awareness among students about the role and importance of customs in international trade and national economic development.
The programme began with a cordial welcome of the esteemed Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma, by Prof. Sonia Aggarwal, who also briefed the students about the theme and objectives of the event. In his address, Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma lauded the initiative taken by the department and emphasized the crucial responsibilities performed by customs authorities in safeguarding national borders, facilitating legitimate trade, preventing smuggling, and contributing to economic growth. He motivated students to explore career opportunities in the field of customs and allied services.
An insightful lecture was delivered by Prof. Deeksha, who elaborated on the significance of International Customs Day, its global relevance, and the evolving role of customs in the era of globalization and digital trade. She also highlighted the diverse career prospects available in customs, logistics, foreign trade, and government services, inspiring students to consider this field as a viable career option.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Prof. Mandeep Kaur, Prof. Mahima, Prof. Neha, and Prof. Prajwal, whose participation added academic value to the programme. Faculty members actively interacted with students, encouraging them to enhance their knowledge of international trade practices.
The celebration of International Customs Day proved to be informative and impactful for the students.
