The College Library of Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, celebrated Basant Panchami with great enthusiasm and devotion. The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the worthy Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma. In his address, Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma highlighted that Basant Panchami is celebrated on Shukal Panchami of the month of Magh and holds special significance as a festival dedicated to art, knowledge, learning, and wisdom. He encouraged students to imbibe the values of education and intellectual growth symbolised by the festival.
On this auspicious occasion, a Book Exhibition was also organised in the lower library hall. Books related to various subjects and disciplines were displayed, aiming to promote reading habits, academic excellence, and research-oriented learning among students and faculty members.
Librarian Dr. Pardeep Sengar, while addressing the gathering, emphasised the importance of books in shaping an individual’s personality and intellectual outlook. He stated that books are lifelong companions and play a crucial role in nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and moral values. He appreciated the initiative of the library in organising the exhibition and motivated students to make optimum use of library resources for their holistic development.
Ms. Tarandeep Kaur, Incharge, Library Committee, in her speech, underlined the role of the library as the heart of an educational institution. She remarked that Basant Panchami, dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, inspires everyone to seek knowledge and wisdom. She expressed gratitude to the college Management Committee and Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma for their constant support and encouraged students to develop a habit of regular reading to broaden their academic and intellectual horizons.
The event capped off with high tea. Those present on the occasion included Prof. Pawan Kumar Singla, Prof. Pankaj Sareen, Prof. Rekha Rani, Prof. Arvind Chauhan along with other faculty members.
