The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, in association with the Departments of Economics and Commerce, organised an informative lecture in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Hoshiarpur.
The resource persons for the lecture were Ms. Amandeep Kaur, Panel Advocate, District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur, who addressed the students on legal awareness, fundamental rights and duties, and the availability of free legal aid, highlighting the role of DLSA in ensuring access to justice for all.
The second resource person, Ms. Ananpreet Kaur, PLV, District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur, addressed the students on legal literacy, Lok Adalats, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and the role of Para Legal Volunteers in assisting the public, with special emphasis on the legal safeguards available to students.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma who addressed the students and encouraged them to become legally aware and socially responsible citizens.
Prof. Vikram Singh, IQAC In-charge and Head, Department of Economics, highlighted the importance of legal knowledge in economic and social life. The lecture proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the students, enhancing their understanding of legal rights, responsibilities, and the mechanisms available for legal support. The interactive session encouraged active participation and clarified students’ queries related to legal issues. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Sonia Aggarwal, Department of Commerce.
