On the occasion of National Youth Day on 22 January, 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the NSS Wing of Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, in collaboration with Students for Development, organized a one-day seminar on the theme “Role of Youth in Reconstruction.”
The program commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the spread of knowledge and wisdom. The event was graced by Dr. Prashant Gautam, Professor, Panjab University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management as the Chief Guest.
The formal proceedings began with a warm welcome, where Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma honored the Chief Guest with a bouquet. Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma emphasized the importance of duty, discipline, and leadership qualities among young people. He highlighted that National Youth Day is celebrated to honor Swami Vivekananda’s ideals, which continue to inspire generations to serve the nation with dedication and integrity. Dr. Sonia Sharma, NSS In-charge, introduced the guests and formally welcomed them. She then briefed the audience about the objective and significance of celebrating National Youth Day in the light of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings.
In his address, Dr. Prashant Gautam spoke about the crucial role of youth in national development and nation-building. Referring to Swami Vivekananda’s vision of strong, confident, and morally responsible youth, he encouraged students to adopt a positive outlook and actively contribute to society.
The seminar aimed to develop positive thinking, leadership skills, and awareness toward nation-building among students. Speakers elaborated on Swami Vivekananda’s messages of self-confidence, character-building, and social responsibility, motivating students to apply these values in their lives.
A large number of students participated enthusiastically in the seminar and described it as both informative and inspiring. At the end of the program, Dr. Ashok Chaudhary delivered the vote of thanks and expressed special gratitude to the college Management Committee for their support in making the event a success. Special guests present on the occasion included Ms. Yogita Gautam, Mr. Ankit Kundra, and Mr. Ram Sharan. Faculty members Prof. Bikramjit Singh (NSS Program Officer), Dr. Pradeep Sengar, Prof. Seema and Prof. Narendra, along with NSS volunteers, were also present.
The program concluded with the National Anthem, marking a respectful and patriotic end to the inspiring event. The seminar left students motivated and determined to follow Swami Vivekananda’s ideals and contribute actively toward the nation’s progress.
