The Department of Biology, under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma, observed World Ozone Day with great enthusiasm and environmental consciousness. The programme was aimed at spreading awareness about the significance of the ozone layer and sensitizing students towards the urgent need for its preservation.

The event commenced with a warm welcome and introductory address delivered by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Head of the Department of Biology, who highlighted the relevance of the day and the role of youth in environmental protection.

This was followed by an informative and thought-provoking talk by Dr. Jyoti Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Biology. She elaborated on the importance of the ozone layer, the strategies required for its preservation, and the historical perspective behind the global initiatives taken for its protection. Her address provided deep insights into the challenges and responsibilities faced by society in safeguarding the environment.

To further engage the students, a quiz competition was organized and skillfully moderated by Prof. Meenu and Prof. Isha. The competition witnessed active participation and reflected the keen awareness of students towards environmental concerns. Adding a creative dimension to the programme, students also took part in on-the-spot poster making, through which they expressed their concern and commitment towards the protection of the environment.

In her concluding remarks, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur expressed grave concern over the deteriorating environmental conditions and urged everyone to adopt an action-oriented approach for safeguarding Mother Earth. She emphasized that protecting the ozone layer is not just an individual duty but a collective responsibility.
