Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, hosted an ‘Anemia Awareness Drive’ organized by the Department of Home Science and Fashion Designing in collaboration with the Indian Dietetic Association, Punjab. Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Head, Department of Home Science explained that September is observed as ‘National Nutrition Month,’ and this year’s focus was on raising awareness about anemia. According to surveys, women and young girls in Punjab are among the most affected by anemia across the country, largely due to iron deficiency in their diets. The event aimed to educate students on iron-rich foods and their benefits.
Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma, was the special guest at the event. He praised the efforts of the organizing departments and encouraged more such initiatives to promote the overall development of students.
Competitions on poster-making, slogan-writing, and cooking iron-rich dishes were organized in which the students participated enthusiastically. In the poster-making competition, Tanuja and Rajni won first place, Sarabjit Kaur secured second, and Ramandeep Kaur came third. In the cooking competition, Amanjot and Muskan earned first place, Amandeep took second, while Tanuja and Ramanpreet secured third place. Simranjeet Kaur won the slogan-writing competition. Special recognition was given to Diksha, Sumiti, Nandini, and Divyanshi for their efforts.
At the conclusion of the event, Prof. Harpreet Kaur expressed gratitude to the College Management committee and Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma for their continued support. The event was attended by Ms. Monika Saini, Ms. Jyoti, and the students.
