On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, the Post Graduate Department of Chemistry at Swami Premanand College, Mukerian, organized a poster-making competition. The event was graced by the Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma, as the chief guest. Dr. Jasminder Singh, the In-charge of the Chemical Society, formally welcomed Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma and inaugurated the event. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma congratulated everyone on this special occasion and remarked that Teacher’s Day, dedicated to the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, inspires us to follow his principles. He emphasized that teachers are the foundational pillar of society, upon which its future depends. The scriptures describe six important qualities of a teacher: motivator, guide, truth-revealer, pathfinder, instructor, and illuminator. A teacher imbued with these qualities shapes a progressive society.
Approximately 100 students participated in the poster-making competition on the theme,’Teachers as pillars of society: The Guide and Mentor. ‘The competition was judged by Prof. Pankaj Sareen, Head, Post Graduate Department of Computer Science and Prof. Rupinder Jit Kaur, Assistant Prof., Post Graduate Department of Chemistry. In the competition Vishal Singh secured the first position, Simran and Sanika jointly won the second position, and Sapna Devi took the third place. The winners were felicitated with certificates . In conclusion Prof. Praveen Saini, Head Post Graduate Department of Chemistry, expressed her gratitude to the College Management Committee and Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma for their special support. On this occasion, the faculty of Department of Chemistry including Prof. Saransh, Prof. Harpreet Singh, and Prof. Mandeep Kaur, played an active role along with the students.
