Sanskrit Week Carnival

The Department of Sanskrit at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, organized a series of events dedicated to Sanskrit Week. In this regard, Dr. Gopi Sharma, Head, Department of Sanskrit mentioned that every year in India, the auspicious occasion of Shravan Purnima is celebrated as Sanskrit Day. Shravan Purnima is considered a festival of the knowledge, worship, and dedication of sages. On this day, the sacred thread (Yajnopavita) is traditionally worn before commencing Vedic studies in Gurukuls. During the event, under the guidance of Sanskrit Bharati Punjab, a Shloka Recitation Competition and a Shloka Writing Competition were organized. Additionally, students were shown a Sanskrit documentary and a science exhibition. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma, graced the event as the chief guest. He congratulated the Department of Sanskrit for organizing the event. He emphasized that Sanskrit is deeply intertwined with our roots and plays a vital role in the cultural and intellectual heritage of India. He also discussed increasing relevance of Sanskrit in promoting moral values and culture in playing a crucial role in India’s prestige.
Following this, certificates were distributed to the participating students. Dr. Gopi Sharma, Head, Department of Sanskrit expressed gratitude to the SPN College Management Committee and Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma for their special support. The event was attended by all the students of the Department of Sanskrit.
