Seven-Day NSS camp commences at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya

The NSS department of Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian inaugurated a seven-day NSS camp in the college campus. Program Coordinators and NSS in-charges Dr. Sonia Sharma (Girls) and Dr.Pardeep Kumar Sengar ( Boys) informed that a special camp for NSS students will be held from March 14 to March 20, 2024, with the theme “Swachh Bharat” and “Meri Maati Mera Desh”.Under this camp, 150 students have enrolled. The camp started by seeking the blessings of the Almighty. The NSS students prayed to God and started the camp with positivity and enthusiasm. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma inaugurated the camp by lamp lightening ceremony.Dr.Sonia Sharma welcomed the guests and the volunteers to the camp. She introduced the motive of the seven day camp and illustrated the various events that were to be included in the NSS camp. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma congratulated the NSS department for this special camp and stated in his address that the real purpose of education is to make humans socially responsible, and employment is a secondary objective. Through NSS, students become aware of their social responsibilities. Therefore, such activities are highly essential in college. Thereafter, to make the environment healthy and sound mantras were enchanted, meditation, and yoga ssessions were conducted by Dr. Chander Shekhar. To develop the socializing skill the students were assigned various duties and responsibilities to inculcate confidence and self reliance among the students. During the camp the students were engaged in various activities and were enlightened by various lectures.Prof Shivam handled the stage and moderated the events. To nurture the concern of the students towards nature and mother earth a tree plantation drive was carried out as a motivation by Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma. To mark the importance of the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, the NSS volunteers then took out a rally and undertook a cleanliness drive at the Railway Station,Mukerian. This gesture was not only a lesson for the students but a message to the society to keep our surroundings clean for well being of the mankind. After the lunch the students got engaged in various activities. Dr. Sonia Sharma expressed gratitude towards Panjab University for the financial support to conduct the seven day NSS camp in the college. She ensured that the camp would be fruitful and would lead to overall development of the students. She also thanked the SPN College Managing Committee and Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma for their support in conduct of the camp conveniently. On this occasion, Dr. Jasminder Singh, Dr. Ashok Chaudhary, Prof. Bikramjeet Singh, Prof. Shivam, and Prof. Seema, along with all NSS volunteers, were present.
