The two-day workshop on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Prevention awareness at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian organized by the NSS unit of college with the support of the Youth Development Center, Hoshiarpur and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, concluded successfully. Dr. Sonia Sharma, the Coordinator of the NSS Unit communicated that on the second day of the workshop, Mukerian’s SDM Mr. Ashok Kumar, DSP Mr. Kulvinder Singh, and SHO Mr. Joginder Singh participated as the guests. The college principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma, welcomed the chief guests with a bouquet of flowers.

SDM Mr. Ashok Kumar praised the college for its efforts in addressing the rising problem of drug abuse and suggested various solutions to prevent the adverse effects of drugs and addictive substances on students. DSP Mr. Kulvinder Singh applauded the college for organizing the workshop related to drug prevention and stated that addiction is a societal evil, and its eradication can mitigate a significant portion of societal problems. He elaborated on several incidents contributing to the rise of drug-related issues in society.

SHO Mr. Joginder Singh also shared his valuable insights on the consequences of addiction, highlighting cases of individuals whose lives were ruined due to drug abuse. On the second day of the workshop, Prof. Shaina Parmar, Dr. Gulshan Kumar, and Dr. Jasmine expressed their thoughts as keynote speakers on drug abuse prevention and awareness. Speech and quiz competitions for students were also conducted, with the winners being honored by the organizing unit.

Finally, Dr. Sonia Sharma thanked the College Management Committee and College Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma for their special support. She also expressed gratitude to Abhishek Shrivastava (H.P.C.L. Regional Manager), Karan Bhushan (Director, Youth Development Center), Sanjeev Jakhmi (Director, National Youth Development Center), and their teams. This workshop was attended by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sengar, Prof. Seema, and Prof. Sofia along with NSS students.
