The Post Graduate Department of Chemistry at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian organized a magic show with laboratory chemicals under the guidance of Prof. Rekha Rani, President of the Chemical Society. Prof. Praveen Saini, Head Department of Chemistry explained that during this program, chemistry students demonstrated various chemical experiments and their reactions.She also mentioned that the event also comprised of the reactions replicates from current research. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma, congratulated the Department of Chemistry and encouraged them to continue organizing such programs in future. He also highlighted that there are no miracles for a scientist, and seemingly fantastic phenomenons can be easily explained with understandings of the principles of the chemical reactions. The aim of the event was to inform, inspire and entertain the students with hands on magic show with chemicals highlighting the chemical and scientific principles behind the reactions. The highlights of the events included to develop different colours to demonstrate fluorescence, phosphorescence and also to encounter different smells by different chemical reactions. Every reaction created a curiousity amongst the students that they got anxious for the next surprising reaction. It was a very informative hands on activity to aware and to create interests of the students towards chemistry.. Dr. Jasminder Singh expressed gratitude for the special support provided by the College Management Committee and Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma.
