A Stem Cell Awareness and Registration drive was organised by Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma. The event was conducted in support and collaboration with District Administration, Hoshiarpur and Arjan Vir Foundation. The entire event was moderated by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Head, Department of Biology and Prof. Shaina Parmar, Assistant Professor, Post Graduate Department of History. The guests and the hosts of the event comprised of Mr. Naresh Gupta, Convener, Stem Cell Registry Project, District Administration, Hoshiarpur and Ms. Jasleen Garcha from Arjan Vir Foundation. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma welcomed the guests and encouraged the faculty and the students to participate actively in the noble cause of registering for stem cell donation. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur introduced the the event and motivated all to become a part of this drive.Madam Jasleen Garcha gave a detailed insight into the Stem Cell Therapy. She illustrated the importance and complete protocol of stem cell donation. It’s a matter of pride that 51 cheek cell samples were donated for HLA typing required for stem cell donation at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya. The event evidenced that the faculty and the students of SPN College, Mukerian have always worked and have always promoted the welfare of the society. Contribution by a large number participants is worth appreciating.The event was made successful with the joint action and support of the NCC, NSS, Red Ribbon Club and the Youth clubs of the college. The event concluded by a vote of thanks by Prof. Shaina Parmar.
