Post graduate Department of Punjabi at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian organized an event to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Legend Amrita Pritam. Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma invited as the chief guest in the program congratulated the students and the staff on this occasion.He further illustrated the that Amrita Pritam is a globally renowned Punjabi poet, and her works have been translated into many languages worldwide. She is honored as the first established Punjabi literary figure and the first modern Punjabi female writer to address women’s concerns. Furthermore Dr. Kiranjit Kaur, Head, Post graduate Department of Punjabi gave a brief biograaphy of the legend and paid a tribute to this literary personality.She also mentioned that Amrita Pritam was honoured with various awards including the Sahitya Akademi Award, Jnanpith Award, Bharat Ratna, and Bharat Vibhushan. Dr. Kiranjit Kaur, expressed gratitude to the College Managing Committee and Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma for their support in conduct of such events. The students along with the faculty members Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Prof. Ajay Kumar, Prof. Pradeep Singh, Prof. Sunita Rani, Prof. Randip Kaur, Prof. Paramjeet Kaur celebrated the birth anniversary and remembered the legend Amrita Pritam for her contribution to Punjabi literature.
