The Department of History and Red Ribbon Club Observed the 81st Anniversary of Quit India Movement

The department of History and Red Ribbon club of Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian, commemorated the 81st anniversary of Quit India Movement to honour the sacrifices and struggles of freedom fighters.

Addressing the audience, Principal, Dr. Sameer Sharma said India is celebrating the anniversary of Quit India Movement which is also known as August Kranti Diwas. Quit India Movement is said to be one of the most significant movements in the history of Indian struggle for freedom. Prof. Anuradha, HoD History and Dean Red Ribbon Club highlighted that the aim of Quit India Movement was to withdraw the British administration and rule from India. She further added that we should remember the sacrifices made by freedom fighters to free India from the clutches of British rule.

On this occasion an essay writing competition was organised where taking into account even macro details, Asst. Prof. Anuradha and Asst. Prof. Tarandeep Kaur adjudged Manisha Devi (M.Sc. Physics semester 3) winner of the essay writing competition. Whereas Anshika Katoch (B.Sc. Medical semester 3) and Alka (BA semester 3) clenched second and third position, respectively. The winners were awarded with certificates and mementos. The entire event was moderated by Asst. Prof. Tarandeep Kaur. Asst. Prof. Sukhpal Singh, Asst. Prof. Shaina, Asst. Prof. Ritu and Asst. Prof. Chetna were also present there.
