The Department of Biology at Swami Premanand Mahavidyalaya, Mukerian organized an awareness campaign on the eve of World Nature Conservation Day on theme Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet
The campaign aimed at sensitizing the youth and the general populace highlighting the significance of biological diversity, nature conservation, protection of ecosystem and balancing the nature.
The event proceeded with the group discussion among the faculty and students followed by the poster presentations on sustainability of plethora of wildlife, natural resources, trees, oceans and mountains without which the mother earth would be a difficult place for survival of the biotic species. Principal Dr. Sameer Sharma further encouraged the initiative of the Department of Biology and motivated the students to work for the welfare of the mother earth and not indulge in the malpractices which are threat to these resources and the wildlife. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Head, Department of Biology further discussed the new methodologies and techniques with the students that could be a precautionary approach for saving the mother earth and it’s entities from the dangers of the malpractices.
Prof. Meenu and Prof. Isha moderated the entire event. The Biology Society members Anandika, Isha, Shivani and Jyotsna made all the necessary arrangements for the successful conduct of the event.
